Our Caterpillar Values

Our school caterpillar values are values from God that we share both in and out of school with His help.

They serve as a reminder to everyone of the ways in which we can live and learn successfully together. The values reflect the Christian ethos of our school. Each value begins with the letter ‘C’. Seven ‘Cs’ together make up our ‘Caterpillar Values’.

Compassionate

At WFPS we show kindness and respect for each other. We support each other at difficult times and pray for those far away in times of difficulty. We know that whatever we do, God will forgive us and He is always willing to show us kindness.

Luke 10:33-35 Then a Samaritan travelling down the road came to where the hurt man was lying. He saw the man and felt very sorry for him. The Samaritan went to him and poured olive oil and wine on his wounds and bandaged them. He put the hurt man on his own donkey and took him to an inn. At the inn, the Samaritan took care of him. The next day, the Samaritan brought out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. The Samaritan said, ‘Take care of this man. If you spend more money on him, I will pay it back to you when I come again.’

Colossians 3:12 - Clothe yourself with compassion, kindness humility, gentleness and patience.

Community

We get on with one another and understand that we all have special talents and needs so that we all feel included. We support each other and build friendships. We show respect and care for members in our school community and beyond. Forgiving and encouraging, helping and supporting, and see the benefits of working together rather than alone.

Ruth 1:16 But Ruth said, ‘Don’t ask me to leave you! Don’t beg me not to follow you! Every place you go, I will go. Every place you live, I will live. Your people will be my people. Your God will be my God.’

John 15:12 – Jesus tells us to love each other as He loves us.

Conscientious

We challenge ourselves to do our best. We can learn by ourselves as well as with others and we are not afraid to get things wrong. We work hard at all we do knowing that we can rely on God.

Joseph worked hard for God through many difficult times.

Philippians 4:13 - I can do all things through Christ who gives us strength.

Courageous

We have respect for ourselves and take responsibility for one another. We recognise injustice in the world and think about our role in fighting injustice. We stand up to bullying and we challenge ourselves to do our best.

Daniel continued doing what he knew was right.

Joshua 1:9 – Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Creative

We ask interesting questions and like solving problems. We like to create using different materials and sources, following pattern or plans. We follow in God’s footsteps because He is the great creator.

Moses’ mother and his sister Miriam were very creative in saving baby Moses, God used him in a mighty way when he grew up.

Exodus 2:3 But after three months, she was not able to hide the baby any longer. So she got a basket made of reeds and covered it with tar so that it would float. She put the baby in the basket. Then she put the basket among the tall grass at the edge of the Nile River.

Communicative

We listen carefully to others and are able to express ourselves clearly and confidently. We know we can talk to God all the time and that he speaks to us in many different ways. Through prayer, we say thank you to God for the gift of life and his gift of creation.

Luke 2: 10 -12 The angel said to them, ‘Don’t be afraid, because I am bringing you some good news. It will be a joy to all the people. Today your Saviour was born in David’s town. He is Christ, the Lord. This is how you will know him: You will find a baby wrapped in clothes and lying in a feeding box.’

Colossians 4:6 Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.

Courteous

We behave politely, respectfully and courteously to everyone in our school and wider community so that everyone feels welcome, comfortable, valued and important. We respect each other and value everyone equally.

John 13: 14-15 – I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet. So you should wash each other’s feet. I did this as an example for you. So you should do as I have done for you.’

Matthew 7:1 – In everything do to others what you would want them to do to you.
